POST RELEASE GIFTS EXPO. SPRING 2007 (from 02/04/07)

Eastern Europe's Biggest International Specialized Trade Fair "GIFTS EXPO. SPRING 2007" was successfully held on the 26 - 29th of March in Moscow, in Manezh Exhibition Complex. The fair included the salons: "GIFTS AND SOUVENIRS", "COSTUME JEWELLERY AND ACCESSORIES", "CHRISTMAS AND FESTIVE DECORATIONS", "HOUSEWARE AND DINING DECOR", "BUSINESS SOUVENIRS AND CORPORATIVE GIFTS".

The fair was held under the support of Gifts and Costume Jewellery Manufactures and Suppliers Association, Russian and Moscow Foundations for Consumers Right Protection.

"GIFTS AND SOUVENIRS" salon was characterized by the variety of assortment: gifts and souvenirs, interior items, gifts and souvenirs from worldwide, handicrafts, leather items, postcards, clocks and watch, soft toys, gifts wrapping, silver articles, exclusive gifts, articles made to order and many others. The presented production became the reflection of the latest trends in the gifts market. The customer appreciates the originality and the creativity of the gift. The utility recedes into the background. The consumer becomes more exigent and fastidious and gives preference to novelty. The exhibitors noted the increasing interest to the expensive exclusive gift which would accentuate the client's personality. In this season ethnic gifts are still popular (especially made in the oriental style). Black and white colour spectrum predominates in the interior decoration. Decorative tables, crystal candlesticks and "print" interior style are in favour.

""COSTUME JEWELLERY AND ACCESSORIES" salon introduced to Russian buyers and trade agents the most famous trademarks, new tendencies and the latest collections of fashion accessories, bijouterie and decorations, sun glasses. The products assortment presented at the fair was very wide and could satisfy the requires of the customers with different level of income. The following trends were marked in this segment: gold and silver combination, decorations and accessories made of plastic (bracelets, ear-rings, bags, etc), sea themes and motives, berries and fruits forms in bijouterie.

At ""HOUSEWARE AND DINING DECOR" salon the whole spectrum of houseware and tableware, items for table setting and table decoration was submitted: tableware made of glass, crystal, porcelain, ceramics, metal and other materials, exclusive tableware, cutlery, kitchenware, textile products for home and many others. Exclusive and individual items are in demand as well as the items made of bone china and the tableware in the oriental, especially in Japan style. The Russian products are not so popular as foreign because of the less presence of Russian producer in the market.

""CHRISTMAS AND FESTIVE DECORATIONS" salon offered a wide range of New Year and festive products: New Year toys and decorations, New Year artificial trees, decorative and aroma candles, carnival costumes, etc. Fiber-optic New Year trees, mechanic singing toys, street garlands, New Year balls with hand-made painting and symbols of the year were in great demand. The salon exhibitors also noted the demand for more expansive products of high quality. In general the Russian consumer is conservative and the assortment of New Year products is characterized by invariability.

""BUSINESS SOUVENIRS AND CORPORATIVE GIFTS" salon presented business-souvenirs, promotion products, corporative VIP-gifts and souvenirs, office supplies, polygraphic production, prizes and rewards, etc. The products of individual design were in demand. The total exhibition area was 5606 square meters. The exposition area was 3700 square meters.

296 companies were presented at ""GIFTS EXPO. SPRING 2007", including 82 exhibitors of the salon "COSTUME JEWELLERY AND ACCESSORIES. SPRING 2007". Among fair exhibitors there were 31 foreign companies from Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Turkey, South African Republic, Israel, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, India, Ukraine, Byelorussia. Foreign companies which presented their products at the fair for the first time considered the fair as the best way of entry to the Russian market.

87 % of exhibitors characterized the exhibition as "very successful" or "successful", e.g. providing large amounts of contacts, 89% of exhibitors estimated the organization level of exhibition as "very good" or "good". The majority of exhibitors achieved their goals by having established business contacts or expect long-term effect. Many of them are going to participate in the next trade fair "GIFTS EXPO. AUTUMN 2007".

There were registered 20 317 visitors at ""GIFTS EXPO. SPRING 2007", including 9 796 visitors of "COSTUME JEWELLERY AND ACCESSORIES. SPRING 2007" salon, among them 65 % were from Moscow and 35 % were from Russia, while in others salons 59% visitors were from Moscow and 41% were from regions. The fair was visited by producers, importers, regional dealers, distributors, representatives from wholesale companies, specialized retail shops and salons, trading houses, shopping centers and department stores, advertising agencies, marketing and promotion departments of the leading companies and banks, interior designers and many other Russian and foreign specialists. To provide interest of specialists the wide advertising campaign was held on radio, television, in specialized magazines, including trade and business editions, as well as by direct mail of invitations to gifts and souvenirs, houseware and tableware industry representatives and to the government structures.
